Skills are what you build between shifts in Lagos Life, and they do three jobs: they gate the career you can climb, they add points to the pay a gig hands over, and they unlock whole actions that simply do not exist at level 1. There are nine of them, each capped at 10, and you raise one the only way the game allows — by doing the work.
The nine skills
- Cooking 🍳 — the Chef career, and better food at home.
- Charisma 😎 — Banking, Teaching, Retail, Cabin Crew and more; raised by presenting, gisting and arguing.
- Fitness 💪 — Nursing, Fitness Coach, Ground Crew and the rest of the physical work; raised in the gym and on the pitch.
- Coding 💻 — Tech, Pilot, Air Traffic Control, Petroleum Engineering; raised at a desk or a hackathon.
- Music 🎸 — the Music and DJ careers; raised on a guitar, a piano and an open mic.
- Hustle 💼 — Trading, Hairstyling, Event Planning, Tanker Driving; raised by buying, reselling, haggling and networking.
- Dance 💃🏾 — a skill of its own, raised in studios and on dance floors.
- Comedy 🎭 — stand-up and skits, raised on stage and on camera.
- Photography 📸 — shooting and editing, and the paid work that follows.
Six of the nine — Cooking, Charisma, Fitness, Coding, Music and Hustle — are the promotion skills behind the 25 careers. Dance, Comedy and Photography do not carry a career of their own, but each one unlocks its own paid gigs.
How skill points work
Every action that trains a skill carries a rate, and finishing the action adds that rate to the skill. A coaching session at the gym is worth more than a stroll round the street; a hackathon is worth more than watching a lecture. A trait that matches the skill multiplies the gain — the Hustler, the Foodie, the Gym Rat, the Smooth Talker, the Tech Bro or Sis and the Musical all grow their own skill faster — and the Fast Learner perk multiplies everything. Skills stop at level 10.

- Fitness — a session with a coach, then the HIIT class and the weights.
- Coding — a weekend hackathon, then a side project or a hot desk.
- Music — the piano, then guitar practice, then an open mic.
- Cooking — learning from a proper kitchen, then Egusi and Efo Riro.
- Hustle — buying and reselling, then networking, then a business book.
- Charisma — practise your speech, then the club, then the open mic.
- Dance — practise the moves, then dance the night.
- Comedy — film a skit, then practise the stand-up set.
- Photography — practise the camera, then shoot the skyline.

Until you meet the requirement the action is shown with its own hint — Needs Cooking 2, Needs Photography 4 — so the game always tells you what to go and train.
Which skill should you build first?
Start from the job you want, because promotion needs the career's own skill and a performance of at least 60 on a shift — so the skill you train between shifts is the one that decides how fast the pay climbs. What is the highest skill level?
Level 10. Each skill runs from 0 to 10, and the game stops adding points once a skill hits the ceiling.

Yes. Skill levels gate whole actions and paid gigs — Cooking 2 opens more kitchen recipes, Coding 6 opens the ATM job, and Photography 4 opens the paid beach photoshoot.
