Lagos Life beginner tips: manage all six needs

Guide ·

Your first goal in Lagos Life is a repeatable day: eat, earn, recover and keep enough money for rent. Six needs fall as game time passes. Spending all day on one task can leave another meter low, even when that task improves your income or skills.

What are the six needs?

These are separate meters. A full energy bar does not solve hunger, and a good meal does not replace social time. Read the effects shown on each action before starting it.

A useful first-day checklist

  1. Look at your home, wallet and all six meters before spending.
  2. Use your available home objects to meet immediate needs.
  3. Pick a job with a shift duration and promotion skill you want to develop.
  4. Complete a shift and check what it actually paid.
  5. Recover afterwards and reserve money for Saturday rent.

This is a suggested routine, not a required quest order. Your home's equipment and the actions available to your Sim affect how you carry it out.

Prepare before long activities

Working, travelling and practising skills all use in-game time. If a meter is already low, meet that need before committing to a long action. Hunger and hygiene deserve particular attention before work: low values can reduce performance when a shift completes, which affects pay.

Working hard trades extra performance for more energy and fun loss. If you finish every shift exhausted, change the tone or adjust your recovery time. See the careers guide for how earnings and promotions work.

Keep travel inside your daily budget

A trip has both a fare and a duration. A cheap journey that takes a long time can make the rest of your day harder to manage. Check your destination and transport choice before leaving, and avoid repeated cross-city trips when you can group activities together. Read the danfo and transport guide for the available options.

Protect the rent before upgrading

Rent is due every in-game Saturday. Save the amount your current home needs before buying upgrades. A better address also requires a moving deposit and brings a higher weekly bill. The housing guide lists all five homes and their costs.

Guest play or a signed-in save?

You can start with Play offline without an account. Guest progress stays on that device, and guest play has no chat. Sign in if you want a cloud save, leaderboard access and chat. Choose how you want to keep your progress before settling into a long game; clearing local browser data can put a device-only save at risk.

Give your earnings a city-sized goal

After covering your basic routine, save toward a billboard or a sea plot. A billboard costs ₦100,000 in game money for seven in-game days and displays your chosen emoji; a lagoon sea plot costs ₦50,000 for the same lease period. Tap an available slot on the city map to rent it. The billboard and sea-plot rental walkthrough explains how to turn your earnings into a presence other players can see.

Start with a manageable goal

Try covering one rent payment while maintaining your needs. Then build the skill your career uses, improve your routine and decide what to upgrade next. If you are still learning the basic controls, start with how to play in your browser.
